    I am playing with compound bow that is proedge and going through target panic. Whenever, I play archery I have problem in keeping aim on the target and I tried to lift my bow from the bottom of target and before reaching my left hand on the target I automatically release the arrow and it's been very difficult to over come. So please help me to your appropriate classes.

    Would thumb draw slightly increase Power because there is less string being grabbed? If you look at any Crossbow, it's just a little notch holding the string. Compound Bows also have a little loop allowing for a Modern Thumb Draw and other devices such as Trigger Releases. So I figure Thumb Draw is one of the most efficient Techniques.

    Great content once again. Instead of buying new entry level or intermediate equipment consider buying from the vast second hand market. My favourite recurve set up (Wiawis Nano Max riser, Win&Win Inno Power limbs, top of the range about 10 years ago) cost me much less than new inferior items would have.

      It's actually not called that. "Run archery" is a like the biathlon in winter sports, but on foot and with a bow rather than skis and rifle. "Running archery" is uniquely what Charlie calls his channel, but it's not a recognised discipline. It would be more recognised as stunt shooting.

    Hi, so I am almost 6 feet tall and I bought my first Sanlida Noble Recurve at 68”. In my first class, the instructor told me that I couldn’t bring that bow and that it would be too dangerous, but I had been shooting it on my own for a couple weeks without any problems. Is it really dangerous? She said she doesn’t know how it hadn’t exploded yet.

    This is awesome to see. My grandpa used a thumb draw on right handed longbow, with a 60# draw, and thats exactly how he did it...he would hook the string just a bit lower below the arrow so it didnt knock the arrow off the shelf. He had no other choice but to shoot that way since he had most of right hand shot off in WW2, and only had a thumb and index finger on his right hand. While that was his only option to shoot if he wanted to shoot right handed, he always swore that it allowed him to have a smoother release than a Mediterranean draw. Im not sure how true that is, but i know that he was VERY accurate. He could shoot plates out of the air, and it wasnt uncommon for him to take down deer from beyond 30 yards.

    One of the best videos ive seen so far on the topic. And as someone who has been practicing archery since i was 10 years old (about 30 years) and is an "instinctive" traditional archer (but i have used sights and compound bows etc at different points in time) i would agree 100% with your assessment here. Although i really dont get too caught up on the semantics of it all, and what exactly constitutes "instinctive" or "traditional" archery. If you are using any kind of bow, without any sights, stabilizers, etc..to me, thats traditional. Whether you are thinking about aiming, or not thinking about it, your brain IS infact actively aiming, and how thats done is irrelevant if it works for you. I think that if you went back in time to the Battle Of Agincourt, and you picked the brain of the archers there, you would find that many of them most likely knew all about things like "gap shooting" or "string walking" (although they probably didnt call them by those terms) or actively aiming using the arrow or arrow tip. And if you went back even further, a good 5000 years, I think that you most likely find the same. And if you showed either of them how to make and use a bowsight, they almost all of them would most likely readily accept bowsights as a great thing and a valid part of archery.

    All the other hunters shoot compound. That is close to being the best reason to buy a recurve. I also have the idea, that if you learn to shoot recurve, you can more or less shoot any bow. I'll only shoot for fun I think :-)

    One trick I use to stop target panic is to aim at the bottom of the target, hold, then the top of the target, hold, then on the target, hold and release. It's just something I made up for myself.

    common sense is rare these days NUSensei, you can not under estimate what people can do when left to their own devices. Everything you talk about in this video don't seem objectionable to me. Personally i like as much space around me when shooting as possible, but I have a back yard range so that is not an issue for the most part. Another thing people need to understand they are a guest of the range, play by the rules or play somewhere else, very simple.

    You *can* feel the bow similar to how throwing is done, at least I can. I feel the resistance and the direction of the force while I'm pulling back , the time slows down. It takes an extra amount of focus but it can be done. Works better with a slightly stronger bow but not too strong. Doesn't mean the results are great, but it's not a draw->aim->loose kind of process.

    Why don't we draw this far back with a longbow or recurve? It seems like with a thumb draw and Asiatic archery you can get into better alignment from the longer draw length. This makes me wonder if I am under drawing my recurves and longbows now.

    • @NUSensei
      @NUSensei 10 дней назад

      It would be a mistake to assume that longer draws are objectively better. Alignment is not superior with a long draw - alignment is purely a result of elbow position. This can be achieved with a shorter draw as long as the wrist is unlocked and the arm is allowed to move as one unit instead of just the hand. The shorter draw used by recurve and longbow has a unique advantage - using facial anchor points, which are undoubtedly more consistent.

    Coolness is relative I guess. If you want to be a competitive Olympic archer, sure. I just do it for exercise, and to pretend I’m training for combat, both of which are fun for me. I can see more practical benefit in my actual life to pulling a heavy draw weight, since it develops the muscles, than getting an arrow on a target. If I really need an arrow to be in a target I can walk up and stick it there. If I really need to put a hole in something at a distance, (which I never have and don’t expect to) I can do it more effectively with a gun.

    i had to learn thumb technique by watching youtube tutorials. there are so many things to consider so i decided to not focus on khatra at all even though many people say its important. i just give a little bit of tension to my bow hand at draw and let the bow do what it naturally want to do after release. it always felt good and accuracy was consistent but in my head i was concerned to do something wrong because everyone talks about how important khatra is. now i can free my mind from this worries. thank you for this video!

    I mean I don't hate on more modern archers. But given that the entire point of archery is a callback to tradition, it seems odd to me to modernize the bow. If you want a bow but a bow isn't good enough for you thats what a gun is for lol. I dont hate it, its just a little baffling to me out of principle. But then again I prefer most things old fashioned lol.
